Statue of Liberty
For decades, the Statue of Liberty has been a leading attraction in the nation. She is the best representation of what America is all about. Give your students the opportunity to see this splendid icon of our country, and if you are feeling energetic you can take them on the 22-story hike to the crown of the statue. You can also enjoy a visit to the museum located in the pedestal of the statue. Here you can view exhibits on immigration that recall the arrival of millions of our ancestors.

Central Park
Central Park is an 843 acre park in the middle of New York City where you can see 275 of the 800 species of birds in North America. Also, you and your students can take a statue tour including the famous “Mother Goose”, or a tour of the fountains including the “Bethesda Terrace”. If this is not impressive enough for your students, they will probably be amazed when they begin to place certain areas of the park with scenes from many of their favorite movies and television shows.

Harlem
Set aside your movie portrayed stereotypes of the city, and allow me to give you a number of reasons to visit this historical and educational city. For example, you can visit the Audubon Ballroom, which is the site of Malcolm X’s assassination. Also, you can see the mansion of Anthony Bailey, the founder of the Barnum and Bailey Circus. Pay a visit to the tomb and national memorial of General Grant. Remember that famous sculpture of Greg Wyatt called “Heaven and Hell”? That and much more are in Harlem .

United Nations Building
A great way for your students to learn all about the work of the United Nations is for them to visit their headquarters. This is an 18-acre building located on the East side of Manhattan , and it is an international zone. First Avenue is where you can see the beautiful display of all 188 members’ flags. While touring the headquarters, you can purchase a post card and mail it with a United Nations stamp. What is so special about these stamps? They can only be used to mail something from the United Nations.

Radio City Music Hall
Radio City Music Hall is the largest indoor theatre in the world. Its marquee is a full city-block long. Its auditorium measures 160 feet from back to stage and the ceiling reaches a height of 84 feet. The walls and ceiling are formed by a series of sweeping arches that define a splendid and immense curving space. More than 300 million people have come to the Music Hall to enjoy stage shows, movies, concerts and special events. There's no place like it to see a show or stage a show.

Empire State Building
Take an elevator ride 86 floors and 1,050 feet up the Empire State Building to the enclosed glass pavilion. See the city like you have never seen it before. Over 110 million people have visited the observatory since it opened in 1931. While your there, you can stop at the restaurants, shops, and continually changing activities in the building. Ground Zero
We all read about it in the newspaper and magazines, and we watched it on television. The question is, “Is that comparable to visiting Ground Zero in person?” No, absolutely not. Ground Zero is a site that every American should see in person to remind them of how Americans pull together in time of need. Also, it is an excellent learning experience for children to actually be able to observe the historical site up close, as well as see the progress of the Freedom Tower.
