The Governor's Palace and the Capitol - This beautiful palace built for the Governor of Williamsburg to reside in, was finished in 1772.  Along with its breathtaking beauty, it was also the biggest mansion in America at the time it was built.  Between the size of the palace, and the beautiful gardens, the Governor’s palace needed 25 slaves and servants for its normal upkeep.  The palace was renovated many times over the years and even has furnishings that replicate its original furniture from the 18th century.  Click on the photo to visit the Governor's Palace and the Capitol website.

Click here to browse Yorktown Victory Center Website Yorktown Victory Center - Here you can view galleries that are so real, that you will feel as if you were a soldier in the American Revolution, or even an American Indian.  Watch a film that places you in a Continental Army encampment.  Then you can go outdoors to see a recreated encampment of the Continental Army where you will see and hear what the soldiers did during the Revolutionary War.  You can also learn about life in the late 18th century by visiting the recreation of a farm from that time period.  Click on the photo to visit the Yorktown Victory Center website.

Carter's Grove - Today, the Carter’s Grove mansion is owned by Colonial Williamsburg, but that was not always the case.  The land was, at one time owned by Robert “King” Carter.  He left the land that was originally known as “Martha’s Hundred” to his daughter Elizabeth.  She Married Nathaniel Burwell, and their son Carter built what is now known as Carter’s Grove.  Carter Burwell finally completed the structure in 1753.  This beautiful house stood as a symbol of Carter’s great wealth and standing in the Williamsburg colony.  Also, it was the center of an agricultural enterprise, and it held five other plantations, which neighbored Carter’s Grove.  Click on the photo to visit the Carter's Grove website.

Nauticus - What is Nauticus?  It is the national maritime center, and it is located in the Norfolk downtown waterfront.  Nauticus is a science and technology center that stretches for 12,000 square feet.  Along with that, it is the home of the battleship Wisconsin.  A visit to this center is a wonderful way for your students to learn about the splendid world of science.  There are many exhibits, and a tour of the battleship.  Click on the photo to visit the Nauticus website.

Jamestown Settlement - Jump back in time to the year 1607.  You can relive the time when 104 Englishmen floated ashore to start building the first permanent English settlement in the Jamestown.  This settlement has recreated colonial forts, Indian villages, and the three ships that brought the settlers to Virginia.  Films, chronicles, and indoor galleries tell gripping stories about early Jamestown, and the Indians of Virginia.  Click on the photo to visit theJamestown Settlement website.

Virginia Air & Space Center - Visit Hampton , Virginia , the birthplace of America ’s space program.  Here you can tour the Virginia Air & Space Center, and also the visitor center for NASA Langley Research Center.  You can do everything from launch a rocket, to pilot a space shuttle.  Along with that, you can see many historic planes, the Apollo 12 Command Capsule, a meteorite from Mars, and even a rock from the moon.  Don’t forget to take in a film before you leave at the IMAX Theater.  Click on the photo to visit the Virginia Air and Space Center website.
